Sunday’s win in Chicago marked something the New England Patriots had not done in nearly two full years: win a football game by two scores. The 19-3 win over the Chicago Bears sent fans’ confidence in the team and the coaching staff soaring. Less than half of Patriots’ fans have been confident in the direction of the franchise in six of the last seven weeks, with the number rising after Drake Maye’s first start before quickly falling after the loss in London.
Now, the team picking up wins in two of their last three games has caused three-quarters of fans to express confidence in the direction of the team. The 75-percent confidence mark is the highest since it was at 77 percent following the home overtime loss to Seattle in Week 2. The 47-point jump from last week’s 28 percent number is the largest positive movement we’ve seen this season, and it also ties the biggest movement in either direction.
The drop from 65 to 18 percent after the loss to Jacksonville matched it. We also asked if the performance in Chicago impacted your feelings about the coaching staff in particular. Over half of you responded positively about them, with 53 percent of fans saying they felt better about the staff following the victory.
44 percent of fans indicated the performance resulted in no change in your impressions, while three percent said they felt worse. New England’s win at Chicago also featured the second appearance of the team’s silver pants with the white jerseys. We asked if you had a preference in the team’s apparel on the road, and while many of you like the lighter bottoms, the navy pants that have been a staple for the franchise away from home since 2000 won out 55-45.
The Patriots take on the Los Angeles Rams this Sunday at 1 p.m. ET.
New England enters the contest as 4.5-point underdogs, according to FanDuel Sportsbook . 70 percent of fans expect the Rams to cover that spread, with just 30 percent taking New England.
