Patriots vs. Jets inactives: Offensive line receives good news for once

The New England Patriots offensive line was in dire need of good news, and it received some ahead of the Week 3 game against the New York Jets on Thursday night. David Andrews and Michael Onwenu, the team’s starting center and right tackle, respectively, have been cleared to participate in the game. Both were originally listed as questionable for the contest.

Andrews was limited in practice due to a hip injury, with Onwenu dealing with a wrist issue. Despite their ailments, both were green-lit to suit up versus the Jets. The same cannot be said for two of their fellow starters up front: left tackle Vederian Lowe (knee) and left guard Sidy Sow (ankle) were already ruled out for the game on Wednesday.

The expectation is that they will be replaced in the lineup by Caedan Wallace and Michael Jordan. The rest of the Patriots’ inactives look as follows: The Patriots flew to New Jersey with four players already ruled out due to injury. Besides the aforementioned Lowe and Sow, Ja’Whaun Bentley was made inactive after suffering a shoulder injury last Sunday against the Seattle Seahawks .

The starting linebacker will reportedly miss the remainder of the season because of the issue. Outside linebacker Oshane Ximines was the fourth player ruled out on Wednesday. However, he has since been moved from the active roster to injured reserve, meaning that the club will not have to deactivate him on at least its next four game days — including this one.

The player that took Ximines’ spot on the 53-man roster also will not suit up versus the Jets. Defensive lineman Jamree Kromah was unsurprisingly ruled out after being signed from the Chicago Bears ’ practice squad only a little over 26 hours ago. Kromah is one of three healthy scratches for the game, joining emergency quarterback Joe Milton and backup cornerback Marco Wilson.

Defensive lineman Deatrich Wise Jr. (shoulder) and safety Jabrill Peppers (shoulder) are both active after being labeled as questionable heading into Thursday. After moving edge rusher Jermaine Johnson to injured reserve on Thursday, the Jets’ most notable inactive is C.

J. Mosley. The starting outside linebacker will miss the game after being listed as questionable because of a toe injury.

Kickoff between the Patriots and Jets at MetLife Stadium is set for 8:15 p.m. ET.
