PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Mount Anthony softball got its season underway on Monday – two days later than the original start date after inclement weather pushed a road game against Taconic High School back 48 hours. MAU was rewarded for its patience with a 4-3 victory behind solid pitching from junior Abby Foster and a pair of big hits from the offense.

Foster went the distance, striking out seven through seven innings of work. Her battery mate, Frances Carey (2-for-3) helped her out with a home run. Kyra Stratton also sent one over the fence for the Patriots, while Emilee George finished 2-for-3 with an RBI.

MAU (1-0) remains on the road, playing at Otter Valley Tuesday at 4:30 p.m. before its home opener Saturday against Springfield.
