The Kansas City Chiefs remain unbeaten in the 2024 NFL regular season after securing yet another victory on Monday night at the expense of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium. That game also served as the true breakout game in Chiefs uniform of veteran wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins, who was spectacular in his first home outing with his new team. Hopkins scored the first Chiefs touchdown in the Buccaneers game when he found the end zone in the second quarter.

He grabbed another TD in the fourth period to break a 17-17 tie. Overall, Hopkins racked up 86 receiving yards on top of his touchdowns on eight catches and nine targets, as Kansas City defeated the Bucs, 30-24, via overtime. Hopkins’ impact on the Chiefs’ attack can’t be understated.

Kansas City quarterback Patrick Mahomes further highlighted after the game how his shiny new toy downfield is making his life easier. “He’s so good winning at 1-on-1s,” Mahomes said about the 32-year-old Hopkins, per Nate Taylor of The Athletic . Denny Medley-Imagn Images It appears that having Hopkins downfield is creating lots of headaches for Chiefs opponents on defense.

His presence makes it harder for opposing defenses to commit extra defender to someone like tight end Travis Kelce, who led Kansas City in Week 9 with 100 receiving yards on 14 receptions and 16 targets. Hopkins will look to have another great performance at home in Week 10 when the Chiefs host the Denver Broncos in an AFC West division rivalry matchup.
