New crime drama Patience is set to hit our screens with a talented cast and story with a twist. Patience Evans (Ella Maisy Purvis) is an autistic woman who works in a clerical role filing police records before she is recruited by Bea Metcalf (Laura Fraser) to put her skills to better use. The six-part Channel 4 drama has been said to offer a "unique and authentic perspective on neurodiversity" and all neurodivergent characters within the show are played by neurodiverse actors.
Filmed across York in 2024, the crime drama is one of Channel 4's new dramas in 2025. But what is the series about and who appears in the show? What is the plot of Patience? A brilliant, self-taught criminologist, Patience has an instinctive eye for crime scenes and a passion for problem-solving. "Detective Bea Metcalf (Laura Fraser) is the first person to spot and utilize her talent, which opens a door into a whole new world for Patience. "Patience attends a regular support group for autistic adults where they discuss the barriers in operating in a neuro-typical world and how best to navigate it.
" Patience is adapted from the original hit French series Astrid and Raphaelle and is a co-production of JLA Productions. The series will be distributed worldwide by Beta Film and is being produced in association with Happy Duck Films. What time and date is Patience released? The first episode will be broadcast at 9pm on Wednesday, January 8 on Channel 4 and will see Patience become involved with the team through her hyperlexia and how her strong visual and auditory memory helps her in identifying patterns.
