A shocking video went viral on social media these days which shows an AC coach passenger who was found traveling ticketless and brazenly flouting the rules and regulations of the railways. A video inside the train coach caught the passenger attired in a turban and cap, boasting about not buying a ticket since his nephew is a DRM and wanted to reach Buxar. The video has caused widespread outrage among the netizens, who have questioned the authenticity of the passenger’s nephew’s identity and his divisional affiliation.

Many are also asking if the DRM’s connection gave him permission to bypass ticketing. The date, time, and location of the video are still unknown. Railway authorities have always highlighted passenger safety and security; however, this incident has raised a question over the effectiveness of such measures.

In Ara, RPF Post Commander Suman Kumari acknowledged the viral video and said that she had received information about the incident. Unfortunately, the train featured in the video is still unidentified, and an investigation is underway. Traveling without a valid ticket in an AC coach can lead to severe penalties, which may even include a one-year prison sentence.

Passengers who obstruct government work, travel without a ticket, or threaten officials on duty face a minimum of 15 days in jail without bail. This offense may also lead to charges under sections 132, 138, and 139, related to obstruction of duty. The incident does raise the need for stricter enforcement of railway rules and regulations in order to prevent such brazen violations.

It also underlines the need to verify the credentials and connections claimed by passengers to prevent abuse of power..
