Aiken residents looking to travel from downtown to the Southside or vice versa could experience delays Nov. 19. The city of Aiken plans to close the northbound lane of Whiskey Road between South Boundary Avenue and Grace Avenue for Tropical Storm Helene cleanup beginning at 9 a.

m. The southbound lane will remain open but travelers can expect delays, the city added . Available alternate routes include Banks Mill and Powderhouse roads.



Both run from East Pine Log Road to South Boundary Avenue. Two Notch Road also parallels Whiskey Road but only runs to Grace Avenue and a portion of the road through the Horse District is unpaved. Those looking for a picturesque drive could go through the Horse District and then drive under the South Boundary oaks.

Also, a person could take the bypass — Hitchcock Parkway or East Pine Log Road and the Rudy Mason Parkway — and use Richland Avenue to get downtown..
