Amid Bollywood star Akshay Kumar's dull phase at the box office, many industry experts opined that the problem could perhaps be his over-exposure. Many believe that the once most bankable actor, known for doing at least five films a year, needs to be extra cautious about the scripts he's trusting and take a step back from doing multiple projects in the same year. However, his Hera Pheri co-star Paresh Rawal strongly disagrees.
Paresh Rawal Defends Akshay Kumar When asked about the criticism over the same, Paresh told Siddarth Kanan, “Honestly, what is your problem if he does so many films? People go to him to make the films, right? As a producer, I would sign an actor only if I can account for the money I am investing.” He added, “Wo kaam karna pasand karta hai. Wo smuggling toh nahi karta hai, daaru supply toh nahi karta hai.
Drugs to nahi karta hai, jua to nahi karta hai. Wo kaam karta hai to kitna employment generate hota hai, wo bhi dekhiye aap. He just likes to work.
Where is the problem? (He isn’t smuggling, boot-legging, selling drugs, or gambling. He is just working as much as he possibly can. And more importantly, his films are also a source of employment for thousands.
