Panthers, Swamp Foxes finish schedule with a win

Pinewood Prep won its sixth consecutive game, defeating John Paul II on the road Nov. 1 to complete a clean sweep of its SCISA Football Region 1-AAA opponents.

Pinewood Prep won its sixth consecutive game, defeating John Paul II on the road Nov. 1 to complete a clean sweep of its SCISA Football Region 1-AAA opponents. The Panthers rolled to a 69-21 victory to improve to 7-2 on the season with a 3-0 mark in the region.

John Paul fell to 1-9 and 0-3. Pinewood will host Trinity Collegiate (4-6) of Darlington at 7:30 p.m.



Nov. 8 for the opening round of the SCISA Football playoffs. Pinewood jumped out to a 28-7 lead over the Golden Warriors in the first quarter and led 42-7 at halftime.

The Panthers’ defense only surrendered two more touchdowns, one in the third quarter and one in the fourth. Quarterback Asa Windham was 9 of 15 passing for 169 yards and three touchdowns. He also rushed for 30 yards and another TD.

Jeremiah Singleton led the Panthers’ rushers with 11 carries for 283 yards and two TDs and had an 81-yard kick return. Junior Will Watson had two carries for 98 yards and a TD. Junior Jack Burnett had 65 rushing yards and two TDs on five carries.

Terrance Stallworth had four receptions for 58 yards and three TDs. Jaden Bellush had two receptions for 60 yards and Jayden Alexander had two receptions for 44 yards. Kicker Alex Hylton averaged 47.

5 yards per kick off and 39 yards per punt. He was also 9 of 10 on PAT kicks. Senior Connor White led the Panthers’ defense with 15 tackles including five solo stops and a tackle for a loss.

Jayden Parrott had 8 tackles while Arden Murray had 7 including 1.5 sacks and Watson had 5 including 3 solo stops. Senior Daniel Wiggins and junior Carson Good both had an interception and junior Scotty Copeland had a fumble recovery.

Ashley Ridge Ashley Ridge hosted West Ashley for its final home game of the regular season. The Swamp Foxes defeated the Wildcats 47-41 to improve to 7-3 on the season with a 3-2 mark in Region 8-AAAAA. Ashley Ridge finishes the season in third place for the region behind Summerville and James Island.

West Ashley fell to fourth place with a 4-6 and 2-3 record. Ashley Ridge trailed 35-26 at the end of the third quarter, but outscored the Wildcats 21-6 in the final 12 minutes. Senior running back Jayden Acosta rushed for two touchdowns and hauled in the game-winning TD pass from quarterback Trevor Kalisz in the final minute of play.

Kalisz also threw TD passes to Nivay Picou and Bam Deweese and rushed for a TD. Jagger Spivey returned a kickoff 95 yards for a TD on the opening play of the second quarter to give Ashley Ridge a 20-7 lead. He also followed Acosta’s game-winning catch with a two-point conversion run for the 47-41 score.

With Shrine Bowl bound linebacker Dylan Polansky leading the charge, Ashley Ridge sacked the West Ashley quarterback multiple times and forced multiple turnovers including an interception..
