rapplerAds.displayAd( "mobile-middle-1" );MANILA, Philippines – Pangasinan’s Marko Rudio sustained his excellence from beginning to end and emerged as champion of the Tawag ng Tanghalan All-Star Grand Resbak on Saturday, April 26.Performing an SB19 medley of “Mapa,” “Gento,” and “Dam,” Rudio topped the weeklong grand finals as he beat out Parañaque’s Ian Manibale and Surigao’s Charizze Arnigo for the ultimate prize that includes P1 million, a Star Magic management contract, and a Star Music recording contract.
Rudio garnered a score of 96.15%, which is a combined result of the judges and audience votes.Touted as one of the favorites to win it all at the start of the competition, the 26-year-old Rudio — a grand finalist in Year 6 — lived up to his billing as he won all of his battles in the previous rounds, becoming the only one out of the 48 participants to do so.
Rudio earned his place in the top six by scoring 99.4% for his rendition of Gloc-9’s “Upuan” then advanced to the top three after singing Bamboo’s “Hallelujah.” The runner-up in Year 5, Manibale once again settled for second as his medley of Lewis Capaldi songs netted him 92.
