Canadian-American actor Pamela Anderson is set to receive the prestigious Golden Eye Award at the Zurich Film Festival. The honor recognizes her versatile career and her critically acclaimed performance in the film The Last Showgirl . Anderson will accept the award in person on October 4, ahead of a gala screening of the movie.
The event will also be attended by director Gia Coppola. Anderson's role in 'The Last Showgirl' In The Last Showgirl , Anderson portrays Shelley, a 50-year-old showgirl whose life takes a turn when the Las Vegas show that sustained her for three decades ends. As she grapples with an uncertain future, she attempts to repair her strained relationship with her daughter, aided by her colleague Annette (played by Jamie Lee Curtis).
The film was penned by Kate Gersten and features a star-studded cast including Kiernan Shipka, Billie Lourd, Dave Bautista , and Brenda Song. 'A terrific performance, perhaps the best of her career' Zurich Film Festival's Artistic Director, Christian Jungen, praised Anderson's performance in The Last Showgirl . He said, "Pamela poured her heart and soul into the character of Shelley and captivated us right from the start.
" He added that her portrayal of Shelley's inner life was exceptional and deserving of an Oscar nomination. The festival also commended director Coppola for creating a touching tribute to a dancer at the twilight of her career. Anderson's illustrious career and upcoming projects Anderson is best known for her roles in the hit drama series Baywatch and films such as Barb Wire , Blonde and Blonder , and Scary Movie 3 .
