PHILIPPINE Airlines (PAL) is set to reopen its PAL Aviation School under a new strategic alliance with globally renowned flight training provider Airways Aviation Group, in a move to reinforce its long-term commitment to safety, operational excellence and pilot workforce development. Under the partnership, PAL cadets will receive best-in-class training through Airways Aviation’s Australia-based academy, recognized for its robust safety culture and internationally aligned pilot training standards. Following a rigorous evaluation process, PAL selected Airways Aviation for its proven track record and alignment with PAL’s high standards.

“Airways Aviation met our stringent requirements and demonstrated their robust emphasis on safety culture and competency-based training methodologies,” said PAL president and chief operating officer Capt. Stanley Ng in a statement. “We value the importance of in-house training in shaping pilots with a global outlook.

” The revitalized PAL Aviation School aims to cultivate a new generation of aviation professionals through a globally connected, technology-driven learning environment. “This collaboration with Airways Aviation draws from our shared commitment to excellence and innovation,” added Carlos Luis Fernandez, PAL officer-in-charge executive vice president–general counsel. “It ensures our cadets are globally minded and well-prepared to contribute to a sustainable future for aviation.

” The move also strengthens education and training ties between the Philippines and Australia, positioning both countries as key players in building a highly skilled, resilient global aviation workforce. “We are honoured to be selected as the official training provider for Philippine Airlines’ next generation of pilots,” said Romy Hawatt, founder and chairman of Airways Aviation Group. “This partnership reflects our shared ambition to set new benchmarks for aviation training in the Asia-Pacific region.

” The program will begin with cadet selection and foundational training in the Philippines, followed by advanced theory and practical training in Australia. Cadets will benefit from state-of-the-art facilities, expert faculty and real-world experience designed to meet international aviation standards. “This is more than a training program — it’s a strategic alliance rooted in trust and a joint commitment to aviation excellence,” Hawatt added.

PAL’s renewed investment in pilot education marks a key milestone in its vision to nurture homegrown talent while integrating global best practices, ensuring its future flight crews are equipped to operate with the highest levels of professionalism and safety. “This collaboration allows us to support Philippine Airlines with the latest in aviation education technology while contributing to national workforce development,” said Janet Dalby, chief executive officer Australasia and Pacific, Airways Aviation Group. The first batch of PAL cadets under this new program is set to begin training later this year.
