Paige Bueckers, Azzi Fudd, and Coach Geno Auriemma were congratulated for their NCAA championship win against the South Carolina Gamecocks on Sunday by none other than celebrity chef, Gordon Ramsay. The win was truly special for the UConn Huskies as the team lifted the trophy for the first time since 2016. Ramsay tweeted from his X account, commending Bueckers, Fudd and their 71-year-old head coach for their performance in the championship game, posting a picture of all of them.
Ramsay also cheekily added that the win must have come as a result of one of his signature dishes, beef wellington. “Congrats @UconnWBB on your @MarchMadnessWBB Championship!! Dan Hurley , who coaches the men’s basketball team of the UConn Huskies couldn’t hold back his pride, while Nike also congratulated the team.
The Connecticut Sun , one of UConn’s major rivals, also dropped a celebratory post for Bueckers and the UConn Huskies. Paige Bueckers And UConn Huskies Win Spectacularly Against South Carolina Paige Bueckers and the UConn Huskies were definitely on fire in the finale against the South Carolina Gamecocks. The UConn Huskies managed to put up a beautiful 82-59 win, with Sarah Strong and Azzi Fudd leading their offense.
Against South Carolina, Sarah Strong chalked up 24 points, the same as Azzi Fudd. Strong also grabbed 15 rebounds for the team, leading the UConn Huskies in this category. Paige Bueckers was another obvious lead scorer for the team with 17 points, along with six boards and a trio of helpers, while KK Arnold etched nine more points for the team.
The UConn Huskies won their entry ticket to the finals after defeating the UCLA Bruins in the Final Four round of the NCAA Tournament. UConn was simply fantastic in that game as well, with a final score of 85-51. UConn has finished their season at the top of the Big East table with an 18-0 conference score and 37-3 overall.
In the Big East, the Creighton Blue Jays are in second place with a 16-2 conference score and 26-7 overall. Paige Bueckers is the team’s lead scorer in this NCAA season with an impressive 20 point average per game, while Sarah Strong and Azzi Fudd are right below her in the list.
