KUALA LUMPUR: Pahang DAP is ready to act as a bridge between the state government and durian farmers in Raub to facilitate negotiations and find a fair, harmonious solution. It said the move is aimed at boosting the state's revenue while ensuring agricultural activities in Pahang are managed in an organised and sustainable manner for all stakeholders. "There is no doubt that some farmers have cultivated land in Raub without permission for the past few decades.

"Nonetheless, the Musang King durian industry in Raub has grown into an internationally recognised brand. "The durian farmers are open to cooperating with the Pahang government to boost the durian industry and also generate revenue for the state economy." Pahang DAP expressed its full support for the state government having land administration matters under its jurisdiction.

The statement added that it was grateful for the royal address of Sultan of Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah yesterday. Yesterday, Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail said that the Pahang government did not mean to humiliate people or certain parties when it took land encroachment and illegal mining cases directly to court without imposing fines. Instead, he said, it was intended to educate the public and highlight that state government is serious in dealing with the matter.
