Pahalgam terror victims were subjected to a sick "faith determination test" by the terrorists and had their pants pulled down, videos of the carnage going viral online show. The bodies of the victims were seen lying scattered across the valley in pools of blood and their clothes undone, with their pants unzipped. As per a TOI report, the initial recovery team did not report these disturbing details.
It is likely the victims' kin were too shocked to register what had happened and the bullet-riddled bodies were retrieved covered in shrouds. The report claims that it was a team consisting of Army officers, Jammu and Kashmir police, and state administration officials that noticed the lowered garments and realised that the victims had been subjected to a circumcision test. As per eyewitnesses, the terrorists conducted three tests on the victims to identify their faith.
They demanded to see identity proof, such as Aadhaar cards or driving licenses, instructed the victims to recite the kalma (a Muslim prayer verse), and forced them to remove their lower garments to check for circumcision. Once the terrorists confirmed the victims' Hindu identity through these "tests", they shot them at close range. Of the 26 people killed in Tuesday's attack, 25 were Hindu males.
The investigation into the massacre has gained momentum. Overground workers (OGWs) and known terror sympathisers from regions like Tral, Pulwama, Anantnag, and Kulgam are being questioned by a joint team of J&K police, Intelligence Bureau, and RAW officials. Overnight, the J&K administration demolished the houses of another three Lashkar aides, apart from the two houses blown up on Friday.
