Sean 'P. Diddy' Combs saw a major shakeup in his trial plans when an attorney on his team, Anthony Ricco, stepped away. Now, reports indicate that there was an allege a power imbalance unfolding between Ricco and lead attorney Marc Agnifilo.
TMZ reported their sources indicated: "Ricco grew frustrated when his efforts to speak directly to Diddy about legal strategies were thwarted by co-counsel, and that's why he felt he couldn't properly defend the hip hop mogul." They explained that the alleged dispute between the two professionals has been going down for months with the pair disagreeing on the best course of action as the May 5 trial date looms closer. In fact, the insider claimed Ricco wasn't confident that his former team would be ready to put their best case forward on the set date.
Previously, Agnifilo made it clear he was looking to make this trial speedy, saying in TMZ's "Downfall of Diddy" documentary that he wants to hit the court room "as soon as possible." However, another insider told TMZ that Diddy's team isn't sweating. They're feeling pretty solid with Angifilo and Teny Geragos both still set to represent the rapper moving forward.
Ricco's departure from the case came early on Feb. 21 when he filed the official documents to withdrawal. In the documents, obtained by The Mirror, he wrote that "under no circumstances can I continue to effectively serve as counsel for Sean Combs.
" The Mirror contacted Ricco, Agnifilo, and representatives for Diddy for comment. We'll be bringing you the very latest updates, pictures and video on this breaking news story. Please check back regularly for updates on this developing story HERE .
