A total of 764,227 people have so far visited the Manila North Cemetery and Manila South Cemetery since October 30 as Filipinos observe Undas this year, said Manila Mayor Honey Lacuna. But Lacuna said the number of people visiting the two cemeteries are still manageable. “So far manageable pa naman po.

Hindi ho as expected 'yung dami ng tao siguro po kasi long weekend po tayo,” she told Bagong Pilipinas Ngayon on Friday. (So far the situation is manageable. The number of visitors is not as high as we expected maybe because it’s also a long weekend.

) From October 30 until 11:30 a.m. of November 1, there were 705,530 visitors recorded in Manila North Cemetery and 58,697 in Manila South Cemetery.

Further, Lacuna reminded the visitors to bring their own food as vendors are not allowed inside the cemeteries. “Pinaalalahanan natin ang ating mga kababayan na clean as you go. Ibig sabihin 'yung bitbit po nila, halimbawa 'yung mga pagkain po nila, bitbitin nila pag-uwi.

Para pagdating ng gabi, paglinis po namin hindi gaano karami ang mga basurang aming makokolekta,” she also said. (We remind the public to always practice 'clean as you go.' Please bring your trash with you when you go home.

So we will collect only a little trash at night.) She added that pets are also prohibited at the cemeteries. “In the meantime po, para maiwasan din ang pagkawala ng ating mga alaga, o di kaya ma-agitate sila sa sobrang dami ng tao, baka makapangagat pa,” Lacuna said.

(In the meantime, please don’t bring your pets with you so they will not be lost or they will not be agitated because of the large crowd, which can trigger them to bite anyone.) —Vince Angelo Ferreras/AOL, GMA Integrated News.
