Sam Heughan, the heartthrob known for his portrayal of Jamie Fraser in Outlander , has sounded the alarm to his fans regarding a surge in online scams tied to the show. As the Starz series gears up for the release of the second half of season 7 on November 22, Sam and co-star Caitriona Balfe (Claire Fraser) have wrapped up filming for the final eighth season, which is slated for a 2025 premiere. In light of this bittersweet juncture, the Scottish actor has taken to Instagram , issuing a stern warning about the rise in fraudulent activities as the much-awaited return of Outlander draws closer.

In a cautionary message posted earlier in the week to his hefty 4.3 million followers on his Instagram Story, Heughan wrote: "Please be careful on social media. So many scammers.



I will never reach out or message on Instagram/Twitter/WhatsApp/Google hangout/etc Or ask for money." Reiterating his warning today, Heughan highlighted an incident reported by the Daily Record where a scammer using the name 'Sabrina' had sent out messages misleading fans into believing they could have a personal conversation with the actor.

The falsely attributed message claimed: "Hello, It is an honor to reach out to you on behalf of Sir Sam Heughan, who has personally recognized your exceptional dedication and enthusiasm as a fan.", reports the Irish Star . The scam continued with: "As a gesture of his sincere appreciation for your unwavering support, he is extending to you a rare and meaningful opportunity to engage in a personal dialogue with him.

" The notice pressed for prompt action, a typical scammer maneuver. Wrapping up, the message read: "Thank you for your longstanding support, which means so much to both Sir Sam Heughan and the entire team." Sam Heughan exposed the fraud by posting a screenshot of the notice with "FAKE" emblazoned over it in red and commented: "And not very bright.

.." This incident comes as Heughan and his leading lady Caitriona Balfe celebrate a significant achievement, having shot 100 episodes of the hit television series Outlander, which draws from Diana Gabaldon's books.
