A theatre company has warned customers of scam ticket resellers circulating online. The Brighton Open Air Theatre took to social media to advise customers of the situation. In a statement on Facebook, it said: “We have been made aware of recent activity whereby scammers have posed as ticket resellers for our shows on social media platforms.
"In most cases, they pose as people who bought tickets but can’t make it to the show for some reason. “This often occurs when someone posts that they are hoping for tickets to a certain show - the scammer will reply saying they have tickets and asking for immediate payment. “Please be aware that only tickets purchased directly from BOAT or verified third party sites (Brighton Fringe, Eventbrite for Funny That Comedy productions) are valid for any production here.
“Any tickets bought online from individuals are not valid and will not be accepted at the box office, even if they aren't from scammers.” Brighton Open Air Theatre hosts a range of shows and is Brighton and Hove’s only permanent outdoor theatre venue. Located in Dyke Road Park, the venue's summer season is set to begin on May 2 until September 21.
The company has said that tickets are available to purchase via their website brightonopenairtheatre.co.uk.
Alternatively, tickets can be bought over the phone on 07391 357542 or in person at the box office. They warned customers to not attempt to resell unneeded tickets online and should contact the box office to discuss what can be done..
