Pandemonium prevailed at an examination centre in Balasore’s Gopal village after some aspirants appearing for the OSSC Statistical Assistant exam created a ruckus alleging paper leak after finding the seal of the question paper packet open on Sunday. While the question papers are supposed to be opened in the presence of the candidates after completing the signature process, the seal of the question paper packet was allegedly found opened much before the exam. Shockingly, the CCTV footage in the exam centre has also been tampered with, the aspirants alleged.

Worse, the student who first noticed the open seal was allegedly detained in a room by the invigilators and others and was not allowed to appear for the exam. This has led to chaos in the exam centre with other aspirants demanding re-examination. According to sources, the exam for the statistical assistant was supposed to be held from 10:30 am to 12 pm today.

However, the candidates suspect that the question paper had been leaked as the seal on the question paper bundle was open before the invigilator entered the hall. “The OSSC Statistical Assistant Exam was scheduled to be held today. We were sitting in the exam hall when I noticed that the question paper seal was already open.

When we questioned them and demanded the CCTV cameras to be checked, they did not show us the videos. They detained me and did not even let me call anyone,” alleged an aspirant Goura Hari Sahu. He further added, “Later, they showed me the CCTV camera that was running 20 minutes delay.

CCTV cameras of other rooms are working fine. But, the CCTV camera of the strong room that had the question papers is late and there is a mismatch in timing.” “They detained me and did not allow me to write my exam.

So, I demand strict action against those involved in the question paper leak,” he added. However, the exam centre authorities have denied the allegations and called them baseless. The officials said that the mismatch could be due to some technical glitch.
