Orlando Pirates have revealed a massive R25 million price tag for one of their in-demand, in-form superstars. Pirates want R25 million for Sesane from Montpellier According to Soccer-Laduma , Pirates’ financial demands are in the open regarding a potential sale of Thabiso Sesane. “The club (Pirates) has their own philosophy and way of dealing with the selling of the players and their sale amount depends on several different factors like age and experience.
So for Sesane they have calculated his value to be around R25 million. They are looking at his age, his experience, and the league in which he wants to be. All those things count hence the value of around R25m,” said a source.
A smart sell-on clause is part of the package Pirates will include a sell-on clause in any potential deal to sell Sesane. “You know what they have done now is that they are adding a clause which stipulates that if he moves to Europe and then that club sells him before he turns 30 years of age then Pirates are entitled to 10% of the proceeds from that sale. You know they learnt a lesson from Lyle Foster when he moved from South Africa to Europe.
They lost out a lot of money when he joined Burnley FC in England because there was no such clause in the contract of sale and with Thabiso (Sesane) that’s what they are looking at adding to his sales contract and agreement. That’s why his value at the moment lies at around R25m. They are looking at future benefits as well,” said the source.
Recapping the initial Montpellier interest Soccer Laduma reported on interest in Thabiso Sesane from Ligue 1’s relegation strugglers Montpellier. The 24-year-old has become a pillar of the Pirates back four, appearing in all of their eight league encounters this term. In many ways, he’s become the first name of their team sheet.
This consistency has earned him Bafana recognition and admirers abroad. “They are looking for a young but experienced defender and now with Pirates playing in the CAF Champions League it is actually good for Thabiso,” the source revealed. “It’s good because he is gaining the valuable experience that Montpellier are looking for.
It will work to his advantage. Also with call-ups to Bafana Bafana, soon he will start playing and things will go well for him.” Orlando Pirates chase 21-year-old Rhodes 21-year-old Cape Town City playmaker Jaedin Rhodes has featured in 10 games this campaign.
He’s bagged two goals and generally caught the eye with his flamboyance, flair and creative skills. Rhodes has 66 City appearances under his belt with eight goals and four assists. The Cape Town City youth product can operate on either flank but his preferred slot is in the number 10 role or ‘the hole’ behind the central striker.
He’s certainly a name to watch out for in the 2024-2025 season. Let us know by clicking on the comment tab below this article or emailing [email protected] .
