Organic Matcha & Dessert Shop Coming Soon To The Castro

It's been five years since Ritual Coffee shuttered its Castro outpost and we now have a new tenant moving in.

It's been five years since Ritual Coffee shuttered its Castro outpost and we now have a new tenant moving in. Organic ceremonial matcha shop Oishii Matcha will open soon in the former Ritual Coffee and Wildcraft space at 2299 Market Street (at 16th and Noe streets). Signs were recently posted in the windows and workers were seen going in and out of the space.

According to Oishii's website, the Castro shop appears to be the company's first location.



The retail space has been vacant since Ritual Coffee closed in 2020 amidst a controversy between its owners and employees. Original tenant Wildcraft Espresso Bar abruptly closed in 2017 after two years in the space . The three storefronts along Noe St.

The 5-story ICON mixed-use condo building was completed in 2013 on what was once called the "hole in the ground.

" The lot sat empty for over 30 years after a fire took down Trinity Methodist Church on October 11, 1981. Oishii's opening comes just as another Castro dessert shop The Castro Fountain announced it will close on Sunday after eight years..
