Outside of the controversy OpenAI is facing with its image generation service, which has everyone generating artwork styled after Studio Ghibli works, the company behind ChatGPT admitted that they are facing capacity issues that are causing delays on several of their upcoming features.“We are getting things under control, but you should expect new releases from OpenAI to be delayed, stuff to break, and for service to sometimes be slow as we deal with capacity challenges,” OpenAI CEO Sam Altman said in a post on X.The image generation took a few minutes, showing that OpenAI is dealing with capacity issues.

Altman also added that his staff have been working late nights and through the weekend to keep things going. On March 31 alone, Altman claimed that ChatGPT already has 500 million users and 200 million paying subscribers, which is an increase of 200 million users and 4.5 million subscribers from the end of 2024.
