One person injured after crane COLLAPSES on busy Scots railway line sparking major emergency response

A PERSON has been injured after a crane collapsed onto a busy Scots railway line sparking a major emergency response. The equipment plunged onto the tracks after an issue emerged as workers lifted part of the tracks during work to replace a junction in Port Glasgow . SFRS confirmed they mobilised two appliances after receiving a report about the incident on Glenburn Street at 8.37pm. Officers have reported that one person has been injured but no further information is available at this stage.



An eyewitness told the Scottish Sun: "A crane collapsed on the railway line, the full street was filled with blue lights, there have been loads of sirens and the road is closed." "We received a report of a crane lifting part of the track had developed an issue with it. "We sent two appliances to the scene with officers reporting one casualty, but there is no further information at this stage." Network Rail had previously posted on social media that they had begun the £14million Inverclyde engineering project today.

A tweet posted tonight said: "A key part is the replacement of a junction in Port Glasgow where trains head to/from Wemyss Bay or Gourock.
