Planet Leisure, in Maple Way, Newton Aycliffe, boasts laser quest, a trampoline park, roller skating, bowling alley, crazy golf and arcade games. The centre has been open since 2011 and is run by the same owner as nearby Ruff 'n' Tumble Adventure World, Darren and Andrea Peckitt. Manager Oliver Johnson has been at Planet Leisure for the last eight years, even since starting out in the laser quest team.
He said: "This was one of my first jobs and I'd been at a factory before. It was a lot more fun and I've loved being here ever since. "Most of the current facilities were here when I started, but during Covid they did a big refurbishment to freshen it up, and they added the golf.
"We have quite a large team of around 30 downstairs, plus cleaners, kitchen staff and maintenance. But even with it being a busy place, it is a very relaxed place to work and we all get on really well." During a weekend, Planet Leisure can see around 200 people through the doors.
