Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion is one of the biggest and most impressive action RPGs ever made. The popular role-playing game arguably put the series on the map, attracting a more mainstream audience following its release on Xbox 360. It also contains one of gaming's most iconic moments, as players exit the sewers and step into the Oblivion's stunning open world for the first time.

Moments like these helped the game earn a 94-rating on Metacritic and an overwhelmingly positive rating on Steam . With this in mind, fans will be pleased to hear that an Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion remake is reportedly launching this summer. The Oblivion remake was tipped to appear during the recent Xbox Developer Direct event .

While the Oblivion remake would skip the event, a new report on The Verge suggests that it's very much still in development. In fact, the Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion remake will reportedly launch either in late spring or early summer. The iconic Bethesda game will be remade in Unreal Engine 5, and is said to be in development at Virtuous.

Better yet, it's not just coming to Xbox Series X |S, but also PS5 and PC. With the next mainline entry in the Elder Scrolls series still a year or two away from release, the Oblivion remake should help plug the gap. Bethesda explains more: "Step inside the most richly detailed and vibrant game-world ever created.

Oblivion is the latest chapter in the epic Elder Scrolls saga. "With a powerful combination of freeform gameplay and unprecedented graphics, you can unravel the main quest at your own pace or explore the vast world and find your own challenges." It's unclear if the Oblivion remake will include the Knights of the Nine or Shivering Isles expansions, so we'll have to wait and see.
