A classic television series dubbed 'one of the best ever' that fans have claimed they 'never binged' so fast is finally available to stream in its entirety. It's now easier than ever for viewers to catch up on influential US police drama The Shield as every single episode is available via Amazon Prime Video. First aired in the UK in 2002, the show is said to break the conventional formula of the cop genre, and explores a tough, morally ambiguous world in which the line between good and bad is crossed every day.

It ran for a total of seven seasons until 2008 with a total of 88 episodes. Leading man Michael Chiklis who plays the part of Vic Mackey in the entire run picked up an Emmy and a Golden Globe for his performance. Chiklis would go on to appear as The Thing in two Fantastic Four movies and plays Boston Celtics basketball coach Red Auerbach in HBO's Winning Time.

The main cast also includes Walton Goggins, who went on to star in shows such as Fallout, The White Lotus and The Righteous Gemstones. Other recognisable faces made guest appearances during the series including Glenn Close, Michael Peña, Anthony Anderson and Forest Whitaker. TV lovers can get 30 days' free access to binge tantalising TV like The Boys and The Rings of Power by signing up to Amazon Prime .

Just remember to cancel at the end and you won't be charged. The show was listed at number 18 in Empire magazine's top 100 list of the best television series of all time. The Shield follows the activities of an experimental division of the Los Angeles Police Department set up in a fictional district rife with gang-related violence, drug trafficking, and prostitution.

This squad operates out of a converted church to maintain the peace in the district and reduce crime. However, the strike team at the centre of the division and the show, often utilise illegal methods to get the results they want. Even more than a decade since the show finishing airing, fans haven't stopped singing its praises with many comparing it to some of the modern greats.

One said: "The Shield is right up there with the likes of The Sopranos and Breaking Bad!" Posting their review on Rotten Tomatoes, where the show boasts a 90% rating, another fan said: "This show deserves to be listed among TV titans like The Sopranos. Start to finish, it’s artistry. The writing never diminished over time, only getting stronger and the acting performances were all so unique with each character brilliant, yet all flawed in their own way.

Masterpiece and I constantly recommend to people who haven’t seen it, that they check it out." While a third commented: "One of the best shows ever. Never binged something so fast.

Never got fatigued. Always entertaining." The Shield is now streaming on Amazon Prime.
