Celebrated as one of the best whodunnit murder mysteries ever brought to the big screen, the film will be aired on free-to-air television this Saturday (November 23) at 10.25pm on Channel 4 and Channel 4 HD. Knives Out was released in 2019 and was written and directed by Rian Johnson as his follow-up to Star Wars: The Last Jedi.

There's no denying the success of Knives Out, both critically and commercially. It raked in over $300 million at the box office, received nominations for a BAFTA, Oscar and Golden Globe in the Best Original Screenplay category, and boasts a near-perfect Rotten Tomatoes score of 97%. The film features Daniel Craig in the role of renowned Detective Benoit Blanc, a stark contrast to his James Bond character.

His accent in the film sparked much discussion among fans, as he stars alongside future Bond co-star Ana de Armas, reports the Mirror . The star-studded cast also includes Chris Evans, Toni Collette, Jamie Lee Curtis, Christopher Plummer, Michael Shannon, Don Johnson and LaKeith Stanfield. And keep an eye out for Frank Oz, famous for being the voice of Yoda.

The film's official description states: "The circumstances surrounding the death of crime novelist Harlan Thrombey are mysterious, but there's one thing that renowned Detective Benoit Blanc knows for sure...

everyone in the wildly dysfunctional Thrombey family is a suspect. Now, Blanc must sift through a web of lies and red herrings to uncover the truth." Audiences have been heaping praise on the film since its original release, with one viewer sharing their thoughts online: "Incredibly casted, and wildly entertaining, Knives Out is a fantastic murder mystery! The story is excellent and extremely funny.

There are a lot of strong themes regarding wealth and privilege that are very well done. And above all, Daniel Craig is absolutely hilarious in this." Another enthusiast expressed: "One of my best movies of all time.

Definitely the best murder mystery movie ever. Must watch." A further comment from an admirer read: "This film is an absolute masterpiece.

The storytelling is another level and the characters and their development is perfect. The twists and turns take the audience for a thrilling ride that never gets confusing. On top of that, it uses the classic whodunnit story and turns it on it's head.

I would recommend it to anyone." Director Rian Johnson was already contemplating a sequel when the original movie hit theatres and ultimately inked a lucrative deal with Netflix worth $469 million for the distribution rights. This resulted in the sequel, Glass Onion, premiering on the streaming service on December 23, 2022.

After a pause in production due to a widespread strike by the Writers Guild of America, filming has recommenced on the third instalment, titled Wake Up Dead Man, set to hit cinemas next year. Daniel Craig is set to return with another mystery to unravel, alongside an all-star cast including Glenn Close, Josh Brolin, Mila Kunis, Jeremy Renner, Kerry Washington and Andrew Scott. Knives Out is on Channel 4 at 10.
