Yemek, on Hadleigh’s Rectory Road, is moving to a new location on the corner of London Road and Rectory Road, where its owners hope they will be able to expand their offering, including a new menu and evening openings. Having served Hadleigh’s residents for the past 12 years, as well as diners at their Westcliff Arches restaurant, Yemek’s owners Adele and Serdar Gulekoglu have built up a loyal community of regulars. “We pride ourselves on being a really comfortable, welcoming environment where you can also enjoy really good food,” said Adele.
“A lot of our customers are regulars and as we expand our menu, we will be continuing to offer the same staples that they come to us for.” The couple plan to use their larger space to offer an evening service to customers, which is already available and successful at Yemek at The Arches. Adele said: “We used to do pop-up style evenings at our Hadleigh café, but the new space will let us make that a permanent feature.
” The success of the Hadleigh cafe is something Adele believes can be attributed to the the friendliness and warmth of their staff. She said: “I honestly think the people who work for us is what makes our customers keep coming back. “We know a lot of our customers, and when they come in, we take notice of them, look after them and just treat them like friends.
“There’s always a smile on our face and it’s just very relaxed. It doesn’t matter who you are.” Besides customer service, a big draw of Yemek comes from its food as its owners pride themselves on serving an unpretentious yet delicious menu fusing British and Turkish food.
Adele believes this combination allows anyone to feel at home at Yemek. “Everything is put on the plate with love, were offering traditional British home cooking with a Turkish thread going through it,” she added. Yemek will unveil it’s new Hadleigh location on Wednesday, opening its doors in the evenings at the beginning of next week.
