ONE Championship Founder and CEO Chatri Sityodtong is all praises for the newly crowned undisputed ONE strawweight world champion Joshua Pacio the latter's win over Jarred Brooks in the main event of ONE 171 Friday in Qatar. Pacio, an underdog in his trilogy against the brash American wrestler, pulled off a shocker when he scored a second-round technical knockout over Brooks—a performance worthy of a $50,000 bonus from Sityodtong. "The main event, from my understanding, Jarred Brooks was a 3 to 1 favorite.

So that fight was crazy. The first round, for four minutes at least, Brooks was so close to finishing the fight with a guillotine, d'arce [choke], it was a crazy, crazy thing," Sityodtong said at the post-fight press conference. "I think one critical error that Brooks made was you can't hold onto a submission for four minutes.

I know for the second round his arms are completely gassed, his cardio was done. I think it was a strategic error. Hats off to Joshua for finishing a guy [like Brooks].

" It did not take Brooks thirty seconds to fight on the mat in the opening round. While on the ground, Brooks tried to pull every trick in the book to choke Pacio but was never able to force a tap. While the night saw five performance bonuses, Sityodtong has no doubt who fought the best.

"I guarantee you, no expert around the world who said Joshua Pacio was going to finish Jarred Brooks in the second round. That for me was probably the best performance of the night," Sityodtong said. —JKC, GMA Integrated News.
