Sack of candidate fake, Ebiseni remains standard-bearer, says party The Ddeputy Governorship candidate of the Labour Party (LP) in Ondo State, Dame Olabisi Adu-Okunniyi, has hailed the Appeal Court judgment that reaffirmed her and Dr Ayo Olorunfemi as the party’s candidates for the Saturday, November 16, 2024, governorship election. The Court of Appeal, Abuja Division, on Wednesday, disqualified Olusola Ebiseni as the party’s candidate. The three-member panel of justices, in a unanimous decision, held that “the appeal brought by the Labour Party against Olusola Ebiseni and two others is allowed.

” The Appeal Court’s decision overturned a previous ruling by a federal high court, rejecting Olusola Ebiseni and his running mate, Dayo Awude, as the Labour Party’s candidates. Meanwhile, Adu-Okunniyi, in a statement, yesterday, signed by her media assistant, Olubori , described the judgment as a victory for the rule of law and all true Obidients, who infused positive energy into the party’s pre-2023 general elections. She vowed that impostors and political marauders would not be allowed to pervert and circumvent the course of the historical struggle of founders of the Third Force Obidient Movement in Nigeria.

However, the LP has stated that Sola Ebiseni remains the governorship candidate of the party ahead of Saturday’s governorship election in Ondo State. Director of Legal Services, Labour Party Campaign Organisation, Ojo Tosin Leramo, while dismissing the purported judgment that sacked Ebiseni as the party’s standard-bearer, described the report of Ebiseni’s removal as fake. In a statement, Leramo said that the development was the handiwork of Fifth Columnists and political opponents.

He said that the suit before the court did not challenge the validity of the Ebiseni’s candidacy. Speaking on the development, Ebiseni said: “A court judgment isn’t delivered through speculation; it’s based on facts and evidence. I would have expected Olorunfemi to present the judgment he’s been referencing, rather than spreading misinformation.

“Let this be clear to all that I, Olusola Nehemiah Ebiseni, remain the Labour Party’s gubernatorial candidate. Any claims suggesting otherwise are unfounded and misleading.”.
