Pune: Anjali Patil, wife of senior BJP member Chandrakant Patil, has been making several stops in Kothrud as part of outreach for her husband's campaign. "We're getting a very good response," she said, as she visited housing societies and met eminent personalities in Kothrud, from where Patil is contesting. It's the last weekend before Voting Day on Nov 20.

Candidates all over Pune ramped up their campaigns, even roping family members for an all-out publicity blitz. "My entire family has been involved in my day's campaign for the last two weeks. We're now trying to meet as many people as we can," said Hemant Bagul, independent candidate Aba Bagul's son.

Over in Kasba Peth, Congress candidate Ravindra Dhangekar's wife, Pratibha, has also been busy with rallies and home visits. "We're seeking support for all the work Ravindra has done. We too plan to meet as many voters as we can," she said.

Candidates for this assembly poll were left with a mere three weeks to impress voters, after nominations closed on Oct 30, making weekends particularly crucial. "People are at home. This is the perfect time to meet everyone," said a senior member of Congress party, adding that home visits were increased on Saturday.

"We will be holding meetings on Sunday too, at housing societies and across residential areas," he said. BJP's city unit President Dheeraj Ghate said Sunday in fact is going to be "campaign day" for all party workers. "We are also expecting some state leaders to address gatherings in the city," he said.

Not to be outdone, the women's wing of Congress have planned a bike rally on Sunday. And they will be joined by colleagues in SUVs and jeeps as party candidate from Shivajinagar, Datta Bahirat, tours the constituency. Public campaigns are set to end on Monday evening.

NCP SCP's Ankush Kakde said their campaign is now in the last legs. "So in the coming days, we'll have more home visits and one-on-one meetings with contacts. Our leaders have been receiving regular feedback from workers on the ground.

We're confident of our chances," Kakde said..
