Lahore - A significant public issue has been resolved due to the special efforts of the Ombudsman of Punjab, with a substantial sum of 13.5 million rupees allocated for the purpose. This amount has been utilized to establish an efficient drainage system, construct pathways, and ensure adequate lighting in the cemetery, effectively addressing the severe difficulties faced by the public.
According to details, Muhammad Musa expressed deep concern over the deteriorating condition of the cemetery located in Johar Town and submitted a request to the Ombudsman Punjab, demanding immediate corrective measures. He pointed out that there was no proper sewage system in the cemetery, leading to water accumulation in graves during rainfall, which posed a risk of disrespect to the deceased. Additionally, he highlighted the illegal activities of the land mafia, which was involved in unauthorized construction and land encroachment.
In his appeal, citizens urged immediate intervention to safeguard the final resting place of their loved ones. In response, the Ombudsman Punjab took swift action and directed the concerned authorities to address the issue. As a result, 13.
5 million rupees were allocated to provide essential facilities in the cemetery. Under these measures, a modern drainage system was installed to prevent water accumulation during rainfall, ensuring that burials could take place without hindrance. Similarly, pedestrian pathways were constructed, making it easier for people attending funerals.
Additionally, adequate lighting arrangements have been made for nighttime visits. Moreover, following special directives from the Ombudsman, strict action was taken against the land mafia. Encroached land, which had been illegally occupied for years, was reclaimed, ensuring the protection of public interest.
Steps are also being taken to prevent future illegal occupations. Public circles have highly appreciated the performance of the Ombudsman of Punjab, considering it a positive step towards resolving a critical issue. A representative of the Ombudsman’s office stated that such public welfare initiatives will continue and that every issue causing distress to citizens will be addressed effectively.
