LAGOS – Chairman of the National Sports Commission (NSC), She­hu Dikko, has applauded Pres­ident Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s appointment of Hon. Bukola Olopade as the director general and secretary of the NSC. Dikko stated that the ap­pointment would usher in additional value for Nigerian sports, emphasising the expe­rience and energy Olopade would bring to the commission.

Recalled that on Thursday, the presidency announced Hon. Olopade as the director general and secretary of the National Sports Commission. Olopade also serves as chair­man of the Local Organising Committee (LOC) for the up­coming National Sports Festi­val (NSF) in Ogun State coming up in January, 2025.



He brings significant experi­ence to the role, as a former two-term Commissioner for Youth and Sports in Ogun State and with huge private sector expe­rience in advancing the course of sports in Nigeria. He is set to work closely with Dikko to advance the commis­sion’s initiatives and strength­en Nigerian sports. Dikko praised Olopade’s track record and commitment, noting that his appointment into the NSC would further add value and innovation in Nigerian sports.

He further expressed his delight for having Olapade on board whom he described as a long time friend and brother that he had been working with for decades with a shared vision to make Nigerian sports better. He said: “This is the best time for Nigerian sports to move forward within the framework of the Renewed Hope Agenda and all stake­holders must appreciate and congratulate President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for appoint­ing two like minds to lead the charge,” Dikko concluded..
