2024’s championship playoff finalists. The last two clubs to win any Rugby XVs competition in Uganda. Platinum Credit Heathens and Stanbic Black Pirates are the big boys of the men’s Uganda Rugby Premiership.

These two, you know and have heard of multiple times before. Now, let’s introduce Victoria Sharks and Elgon Wolves. Both clubs formed in the post-COVID era.



Playing their first top-flight seasons having been promoted together in 2024. The young boys at the table of men. This Saturday, in Round 3 of the 2025 men’s Uganda Rugby Premiership, the veterans and the newbies will get acquainted with each other.

Heathens will host Elgon Wolves at Kyadondo while Pirates will welcome Victoria Sharks at Kings Park. As expected, Pirates and Heathens are perched at the top of the standings with maximum points from both rounds. On the other hand, Victoria Sharks and Elgon Wolves have had mixed fortunes.

Sharks won their first match against Eagles but fell to Rhinos in the second. Wolves are yet to record a positive result. Heathens and Elgon Wolves are meeting for the first time in XVs rugby.

But the players are familiar with each other since they faced each other in the 7s Series last year. When Pirates pulled out of the Masters Challenge in November, they hosted and beat Victoria Sharks by 26-18 points as part of their pre-season preparations. Wins for Elgon Wolves and Victoria Sharks this Saturday will be too much to ask.
