Oksana Lyniv has received the Bavarian Cultural Prize. The Ukrainian conductor took to social media to announce the award and said, “I am very honored to receive this special Bavarian Cultural Prize personally from the cultural minister Markus Blume, since I am artistically connected to Bavaria for already two decades. I am happy to donate my prize of 10 000 euro to the Youth Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine to support the development of young musicians in those difficult times.
I also dedicate the award to freedom and the power of art, in which I believe so strongly.” Bavaria’s Art Minister Markus Blume added, “Oksana Lyniv is a top-class conductor, a musical pioneer and an inspiring bridge-builder.” Lyniv is the Music Director of the Teatro Comunale di Bologna and founder of the Youth Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine.
