The Edmonton Oilers have more injury concerns. Mattias Ekholm left Friday's game against the San Jose Sharks early in the first period, appearing to aggravate an injury after just two shifts. One period later, Zach Hyman exited after he appeared to be clipped by Henry Thrun.
Both were ruled out in the second intermission. Friday's game marked Ekholm's return to the lineup after he was sidelined for seven games with an undisclosed injury. The defenceman played only 1:52 before he was forced to exit.
The Swede has recorded 33 points (nine goals and 24 assists) in 64 games this season. This is another blow for the already short-handed Oilers, who are missing Leon Draisaitl, Jake Walman, Trent Frederic and Evander Kane..
