Qatar tribune Darlene Regis Marking over a decade of advocacy for Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) in Qatar, the Overseas Filipino Investors and Entrepreneurs Movement (OFIEM) celebrated its 12th anniversary with remarkable activities. The organisation, headed by Engr. Edgar Boyano, comprises Filipinos from various fields of work and provincial origins in the Philippines, who united to promote financial literacy and empower their fellow OFWs in Qatar.

“As we celebrate 12 years of service, we remain committed to spreading financial literacy awareness among all OFWs. Together, let’s empower our community to make informed financial choices for a brighter future,” said a member of the organisation. In conjunction with the anniversary festivities, OFIEM hosted a sports competition featuring a friendly No-Tap Bowling Competition on September 21 at the Qatar Bowling Center.



The event aimed to foster camaraderie and community spirit among participants. Among the event sponsors were La Diva de Quafeir Beauty Center of Vice Chair of Sports and Wellness Committee Layla Bernal, LBC Express, and Izanagi Community. The BESTClub Strategic Group (BCSG), led by Architect Migi Garcia, extended its support to OFIEM by awarding gift tokens to the winners in the Individual Category of the bowling event.

The highest-scoring female received one official PandemiArt replica painting along with a commemorative stamp collection. The highest-scoring male also received one official PandemiArt replica painting and a commemorative stamp collection. Additionally, a special award was given, which included one commemorative PandemiArt mug.

All of these prizes were provided by Migiartz and Migi-Collections, courtesy of BESTClub BCSG. BCSG was established post-pandemic to promote the diverse arts and culture of Filipinos, particularly for the younger generation. The organization encourages productive use of free time through creative pursuits, financial education, skill enhancement, and support for seminars and activities for OFWs in Qatar.

This anniversary celebration not only highlighted the achievements of OFIEM but also reinforced the importance of community engagement and support for Filipinos in Qatar. Copy 22/09/2024 10.
