A package at the British Museum meant that offices had to be evacuated while a 'controlled explosion' took place. Police were called to the museum at 8.34am this morning (Thursday, October 10) to reports of a suspicious package.

Officers rushed to the scene and quickly evacuated the surrounding area while specialists inspected the package. Bomb disposal crews safely carried out a controlled explosion while the evacuated workers waited on the street outside. Thankfully the package was confirmed to be 'non-suspicious', police said.
