Off-duty Louisiana State Trooper booked for battery after altercation at LSU vs UCLA game

A Louisiana State Police trooper was arrested on two counts of simple battery Saturday afternoon after a reported altercation with two men at the LSU vs UCLA football game.

Artellus Bellard, 30, of Lake Charles, allegedly initiated a physical altercation with the men, following a verbal argument. Bellard is a state trooper and has been assigned to Troop D since 2021.

He was off-duty at the time of the altercation. During the game, law enforcement responded to a disturbance in the stands, according to a statement released by Louisiana State Police. Investigation revealed that Bellard was a state trooper, and that he initiated the altercation.



Bellard has a pending court date. There was no mention whether the incident will affect Bellard's employment with Louisiana State Police..
