A havildar working under the Commissionerate Police has set a bright example for society by extending his helping hand to a hapless mother who was begging to perform the last rites of her only son in Kakatpur area in Puri district. The havildar, who has earned massive praise from the local residents for his noble work, has been identified as Hrushikesh Nayak. As per reports, Panchei Dei from Lataharana village had lost her husband two years back.
Her problems compounded when he recently lost her only son. As per sources, Panchei’s son had gone to Hyderabad to earn his living some years back. However, he suffered a brain stroke and was paralysed while working there.

She had no other alternative but to beg for alms from door to door to perform the last rites of her son. Some benevolent persons extended their helping hands when the video of the incident went viral over various social media platforms. Moreover, the heart-wrenching video prompted havildar Hrushikesh Nayak to extend his wholehearted support to the helpless woman.
He provided the required goods including ration, clothes and financial help to the woman to perform the last rites of her son. “After coming to know about the ordeal of the mother, I helped her as per my capacity. I request all to help the needy and poor.
Let God be merciful to all the needy people,” said Hrushikesh. Notably, Panchei is leading a miserable life with acute poverty. She doesn’t even have a roof over her head and she is living in a thatched house covered with a polythene sheet.
“Hrushikesh told me not to beg and he along with some other people helped me to perform the last rites of my son in a proper manner. I am grateful to them,” said Panchei. After coming to know about the incident Kakatpur block Chairman Sridhar Nayak has assured to provide Panchei a house under PM Awas Yojana soon.
“I assure that the poor woman will be provided a house under PM Awas Yojana soon and she will lead a happy life,” said Sridhar..
