More sensor and AI Tracking. The Obsbot Tail 2 is described as the world’s first PTZR (Pan, Tilt, Zoom, Rotate) camera with a 4K sensor and next-generation AI Tracking 2.0.

The broadcast-quality Tail 2 puts pro camera quality within reach of solo creators, live event producers, filmmakers and educators. At the core of the new Obsbot Tail 2 is a new AI Tracking 2.0 system powered by a deep neural learning network algorithm.

The technology mimics the intelligence of a professional camera operator by offering a new Only-Me mode and Group-Tracking mode for consistent tracking of single or multiple subjects, making the technology suitable for worship services, keynote speakers and on-stage presentations. Thanks to expanded subject recognition, the Obsbot Tail 2 can identify more than 30 animal species and up to 200 objects, providing precise framing for more dynamic content. The Auto Zoom capability can intelligently adjust the camera’s framing for both close-ups and wide shots with a zoom range of 3x to 24x.

The Tail 2 can track humans, 30 animal species and up to 200 objects. A customizable tracking speed and axis control with five adjustable tracking speeds and independent pan-and-tilt customization, the Tail 2’s movements can be fine tuned based on what’s happening in the scene. The system aims to deliver a more intelligent, high-performance camera that can adapt to the demands of creators and make high-end production more accessible to a broader range of creatives.

The Obsbot Tail 2 uses a 1/1.5-inch CMOS sensor and the lens consists of 12 elements. The sensor is capable of capturing video at 4K @ 60fps or 1080p @ 120fps.

The lens has a 5x optical zoom function with a 12x hybrid zoom range on top. The sensor is an all-pixel PDAF with AI-optimized low-light performance and a pixel size of 2μm, large enough to ensure clarity in low-light conditions, making it suitable for filming indoor events without specialist lighting. HDR and Dual Native ISO offer enhanced color depth and dynamic range for higher-quality images under a wider range of lighting conditions.

Obsbot describes the new Tail 2 as the first-ever three-axis PTZR 4K camera with a gimbal-based design featuring a 90° rotation capability that produces a fluid cinematic motion and lossless 4K vertical shooting. True Vertical 4K shooting means the Tail 2 can switch to vertical video while preserving the full image resolution and clarity without cropping. The Tail 2 has a 12-element lens with an 5x optical zoom.

Thanks to an Auto Leveling System, the Tail 2 maintains a level horizon, even when shooting on the move or when mounted on unconventional setups or rigs. The R-axis stabilization and Ultra-Smooth Motion functions eliminate camera shake, ensuring cinema-grade PTZ movement and an angular jitter of just ±0.003°.

A Composition Line feature in the Tail 2 lets users reposition the target whether it’s a person, animal or object for better framing and composition that’s tailored to the shooting environment. Distance-Extended Gesture Control offers hands-free operation so a user can remotely activate the Tail 2’s AI Tracking, zooming and recording funciton with using simple hand gestures. An AI-Powered Face Framing function dynamically adjusts composition based on the subject’s facial orientation.

Obsbot claims this produces more natural-looking and engaging shots and makes the Tail 2 ideal for use with interviews, podcasts and interactive content. Shooting high-quality video is only half the picture because the video feed needs to fit in with the streaming setup. The Obsbot Tail 2 has been designed for creators and professionals thanks to multi-protocol support for NDI, RTMP, RTSP, 3G-SDI, Pelco-D, Pelco-P and FreeD, making it suitable for AR/VR live production, live streaming and multi-cam studio setups.

The Obsbot Tail 2 has HDMI 2.0, USB 3.0, Ethernet, RS-232 and Wi-Fi 6 connectivity.

The connectivity of the Tail 2 includes a full-size HDMI 2.0, USB 3.0, Ethernet, RS-232 and Wi-Fi 6, providing high-speed data transfer for broadcast integration and professional streaming workflows without restriction.

The Tail 2 also works with Obsbot’s Start software for a quick setup, Obsbot Live software enables multi-cam streaming while Obsbot Center can be used to provide centralized control to multiple cameras. The Tail 2 is also compatible with Obsbot Talent for creating an all-in-one live-streaming hub. The Tail 2 camera weighs just a smidgen over a kilogram and although it’s the largest camera Obsbot has made so far—largely because of its huge lens—the overall size is sufficiently compact for solo streamers and pro videographers to sue in a multi-camera setup.

Powering the camera is a 5,000mAh rechargeable battery that can shoot for up to five hours continuously, making it suitable for location shoots where the camera can’t be powered externally or needs to be located remotely. A dual-color tally light displays the recording status of the camera so on-screeen talent knows which camera is live. To secures the Tail 2 there is a built-in 1⁄4-inch thread for easy attachment to a range of compatible stands, tripods and custom grips which offers versatile positioning as well as flexible shooting angles.

The Obsbot Tail 2 is available worldwide via the Obsbot Official Store , Amazon and the brand’s authorized resellers. The price of a single Obsbot Tail 2 is $1,199 / £999 and you can try one out for yourself at NAB 2025 (Booth SL11911 in Hall SL). Full tech specs are listed here .
