Oblivion Remastered has absolutely dominated the recent news cycle, and so it's no surprise to hear that the remade RPG has attracted a massive number of players. Remember, this thing was a shadow drop — a shadow drop that leaked all over the place for months , admittedly — and so it never had the benefit of a full marketing campaign leading up to its release on the 22nd April. It's more than fair to say that the title's sudden launch has worked extremely well — and it helps that at its core, Oblivion Remastered is still very much Oblivion, in all of its weird and wonderful glory.

In that sense, it takes maximum advantage of people's nostalgia, while its numerous improvements provide plenty of reasons to revisit Cyrodiil almost two decades after the original release. Of course, it should be noted that we're talking about 4 million players here — not necessarily sales. Remastered dropped straight onto Game Pass, after all.
