Late last week, a new update for Oblivion Remastered launched on Xbox and PC — but there's still no sign of said patch on PS5. Interestingly, Bethesda didn't release any patch notes for the update, and so some players have spent the weekend trying to work out what it actually does. As it happens, this seems to be an update aimed at bettering the game's technical performance.
Xbox users have seen a positive boost to frame rates, while PC players have, bafflingly, been hit with the removal of certain graphics settings, generally resulting in worse performance and new visual bugs. To be clear, though, the Xbox version is still far from perfect — as reported by Digital Foundry . As is also the case on PS5, the open world RPG has serious trouble sticking to a steady 60 frames-per-second — especially when you're outdoors, traversing Cyrodiil's countryside.
So while the latest update does help — Digital Foundry says the frame rate can jump by up 16 frames — there's still a long way to go. You would assume that the same update would have a positive impact on the PS5 version of Oblivion Remastered, but again, we've seen nothing of it on Sony's system..
