Looking for Wednesday’s Strands hints, spangram and answers? You can find them here: We’ve had quite a stretch of fun and fairly challenging Strands grids to solve this week, and today’s continues that trend—though it’s a little less tricky than a couple we’ve solved over the past few days. Still, it certainly qualifies as a fun one, and that’s why we’re here, isn’t it? Games are fun. Solving puzzles is a fun way to keep your wits sharp.
Let’s dive right in. Strands is the newest game in the New York Times’ stable of puzzle games. It’s a fun twist on classic word search games.
Every day we’re given a new theme and then tasked with uncovering all the words on the grid that fit that theme, including a spangram that spans two sides of the board. One of these words is the spangram which crosses from one side of the grid to another and reveals even more about the day’s theme. Spoilers ahead.
Today’s Strands Hints Today’s Theme: Name of the game Hint #1 : As in board game Hint #2: And other colorful names Instead of the first two letters of each word, today I’ll include the honorifics: Remember, spoilers ahead! What Are Today’s Strands Answers? Today’s spangram is: CLUESUSPECTS Here’s the full list of words: Here’s the completed Strands grid: Today’s Strands Breakdown I told you this was a fun one. This week we’ve gotten 90s bands, the NATO Alphabet and now the Clue board game. All of these are pretty damn fun, in my humblest opinion.
I actually had a much easier time with this one, because I managed to find all three words on the right rather quickly. I found PLUM first and then PEACOCK and still didn’t piece together the theme. But when I found GREEN right between them, then I knew.
I remembered Professor Plum and Miss Scarlet and Mr. Green. I found CLUE next and then struggled a bit before I could extend it to CLUESUSPECTS, but after that this puzzle was easy.
MUSTARD, then SCARLET, then ORCHID in rapid succession. The real question is, which of them is the killer—and where did they do the deed!? And what was the murder weapon??
