If you are, let me know via email , direct message on Twitter or in the comments below! Maybe we can, uh, make connections over Connections .

Today’s NYT Connections hints and answers for Tuesday, October 22, are coming right up. How To Play Connections Connections is a free, popular New York Times daily word game. You get a new puzzle at midnight every day.

You can play on the NYT website or Games app. You’re presented with a grid of 16 words. Your task is to arrange them into four groups of four by figuring out the links between them.

The groups could be things like items you can click, names for research study participants or words preceded by a body part. There’s only one solution for each puzzle, and you’ll need to be careful when it comes to words that might fit into more than one category. You can shuffle the words to perhaps help you see links between them.

Each group is color coded. The yellow group is usually the easiest to figure out, blue and green fall in the middle, and the purple group is usually the most difficult one. The purple group often involves wordplay.

Select four words you think go together and press Submit. If you make a guess and you’re incorrect, you’ll lose a life. If you’re close to having a correct group, you might see a message telling you that you’re one word away from getting it right, but you’ll still need to figure out which one to swap.

If you make four mistakes, it’s game over. Let’s make sure that doesn’t happen with the help of some hints, and, if you’re really struggling, today’s Connections answers. As with Wordle and other similar games, it’s easy to share results with your friends on social media and group chats.

Darn. My five-day double streak of perfect games and wins is over. Here's how I fared: 🟪🟪🟪🟪 🟩🟩🟩🟩 🟨🟨🟨🟨 🟦🟦🟦🟦 I was knocking on the door of a couple of groups, but I just couldn't quite break through.

My first guess was MARCO POLO, VIKING, PIONEER and VOYAGER as in a group of explorers, but that left me one away from a group. I decided to come back to that later and got the yellows instead. I was oh so close to the purples with a guess of BINGO, UNO, TAG and MASTERMIND — a group of games.

A switch to MARCO POLO, VIKING, GALILEO and VOYAGER — as in those who make discoveries — was incorrect too. One last guess of CONCOCT, PIONEER, MASTERMIND and HATCH was also wrong. VOYAGER was the only one of the blues I would have immediately recognized as a NASA spacecraft.

I was close, but not close enough to getting the greens and purples. I’m putting my inability to get the purples partially down to cultural differences. I've only ever played BINGO in Scotland and no-one there ever yells "bingo!" when they win.

It's almost always "house!" But my parents once told me about a man who shouted "yabba dabba doo!" instead. I am manifesting a new record-breaking streak starting tomorrow. Let's do this.

That’s all there is to it for today’s Connections clues and answers. Be sure to check my blog for hints and the solution for Wednesday’s game if you need them. P.

S. Today, I'm going to recommend a double bill of horror movies from the creative duo of Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead, who are now perhaps best known for their work on several Marvel TV shows. Resolution (2012) and The Endless (2017) take place in Benson and Moorhead’s own fictional universe and they share some connective tissue.

I liked Resolution but absolutely loved The Endless. It was my favorite film of that year. You can check it out without having seen Resolution first, but it's a semi-sequel and the experience will be more rewarding if you do:.
