The Stephen Keshi Stadium, Asaba, Delta State, was enlivened by the athletics event of the 2024 National Youth Games again on Tuesday as young athletes from the hosts Delta and Anambra States battled for supremacy in the 200m and 4×100 finals, PUNCH Sports Extra reports. Both states shared the honours in the boys and girls categories of both events. Anambra reigned supreme in the girls’ 200m as girls’ 100m champion Chigozie Nwankwo won her second title at the games by running an impressive personal best of 24.
71s. Nwankwo inspired an Anambra 1-2 finish, with her teammate, Adaeze Ezeh, winning the silver medal in 25.02s and Ngozi Okereke (Delta) settling for bronze in 25.
25s. Nwankwo and Ezeh later teamed up with two others and successfully defended their girls’ 4x100m title, winning their second consecutive gold medal at the National Youth Games with a time of 48.21s.

The hosts, Delta, responded in the boys’ 200m and 4x100m finals. Bright Gift executed a perfect race in the boys’ 200m final, running away with the title in a time of 22.35s, followed by Ogun State’s Muyideen Adeola in second with a time of 22.
