NWS Sacramento Forecast, Light Showers Today, Warm Weekend Ahead

NWS Sacramento expects light showers in the region, with a dry and warm weekend ahead and minor heat risk from Monday.

The National Weather Service in Sacramento forecasts light showers today for mountain areas north of I-80 and the northern Sacramento Valley. Rainfall is expected to total around a tenth of an inch, with up to 0.2 inches possible in Lassen Park and Shasta County.

A dry and warm weekend is expected, with temperatures rising early next week. Valley temperatures could reach the upper 70s to low 80s from Sunday through Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service . The National Weather Service has issued a "Minor HeatRisk" for the Valley, Delta, and foothills starting Monday.

Winds are expected to remain below 12 kts, though gusts of 25-30 kts are possible in the Sierra through early evening. An "active weather pattern" is expected from Wednesday through Friday, with "anomalously high CAPE across the Valley," indicating potential thunderstorms, particularly over the northern Sacramento Valley late Wednesday into early Thursday.
