NWS forecasting impactful mountain snow, valley precipitation in SW Montana this weekend

The National Weather Service office in Great Falls posted a weather bulletin Friday announcing increased confidence in impactful mountain snow and valley precipitation over the weekend. "Although there is uncertainty with respect to snow levels, confidence is increasing in a period of impactful precipitation developing Sunday and lasting into Monday, primarily across Southwest Montana," the bulletin reads. Snow initially looks to be confined to the mountains Sunday evening, though as cooler air works in Sunday night, snow levels will fall quickly.

Just how far they fall is still unknown, which leads to lower confidence in potential impacts at lower elevations. In the meantime, late morning through early evening showers and thunderstorms will be around Saturday and Sunday, mostly across Southwest and Central Montana..
