Just In Don't Miss Nintendo has officially revealed its next console, the Nintendo Switch 2, which will incorporate Nvidia's DLSS upscaling technology and ray tracing capabilities. This hybrid console is powered by a custom Nvidia processor. Nvidia confirmed these features, stating that the custom GPU would enhance visuals and gameplay on the new platform.
The Nintendo Switch 2 is scheduled for release on June 5. It will feature a 7.9-inch LCD screen and redesigned Joy-Con 2 controllers with mouse control support.
The Nintendo Switch 2 price will start at $449.99 (approximately Rs. 38,500) in the US with a single storage option of 256GB.
Nvidia's Advanced Technology In a roundtable Q&A session in New York, following the Nintendo Direct broadcast, Nintendo confirmed the inclusion of Nvidia's Deep Learning Super Sampling (DLSS) ray tracing technology in the Switch 2. However, details about the specific DLSS version were not disclosed during this session. DLSS technology leverages AI and machine learning to enhance lower resolution images in real-time, improving framerates in games.
Nvidia highlighted that its RT Cores enable real-time ray tracing, providing realistic lighting, reflections, and shadows for more immersive gaming experiences. Enhanced Gaming Experience The Tensor Cores in the custom Nvidia GPU power AI-driven features like DLSS, enhancing resolution without compromising image quality. These cores also facilitate AI-powered face tracking and background removal in video chats, enriching social gaming and streaming experiences.
Nvidia claims that the Switch 2 will deliver ten times the graphics performance of its predecessor, offering sharper visuals and smoother gameplay. In handheld mode, it supports variable refresh rates via Nvidia G-SYNC to minimise screen tearing. Performance Capabilities The Nintendo Switch 2 can achieve up to 4K resolution when docked and supports gaming at up to 120fps at 1080p in handheld mode.
Despite these impressive capabilities, detailed CPU and GPU specifications have not been provided by either Nintendo or Nvidia. The launch of the Nintendo Switch successor will coincide with several first party and third-party game releases on June 5. This new console aims to offer an enhanced gaming experience with its advanced technological features and improved hardware design.
